IRON NEST — Frequently Asked Questions
The player questions we see most. Jump to the Review for the buying call.
Is IRON NEST multiplayer or co-op?
No. It's a single-player simulation with Steam Cloud, achievements, and family sharing, but there's no co-op or versus online mode. The core experience is operating the fortress alone.
How does aiming and hitting targets work?
The game gives you indirect intel on purpose: front-line observers report a bearing and distance. You plot two bearings on the tactical map to triangulate the target, measure the range back to your fortress, then let the ballistic computer solve elevation and propellant charge. Wrong numbers mean a miss.
How many shell types are there?
Around 30 unlockable rounds: armor-piercing to crack bunkers and armor, high-explosive for infantry and soft targets, smoke to screen friendly withdrawals, star shells to light up night fights, and deliberately uncomfortable gas rounds. The two guns can load different shells at once.
What happens if I hit friendlies or civilians?
It counts. Friendly or civilian casualties are logged in an inter-mission newspaper report and shape the branching story and ending. Intel is sometimes misleading, so cross-check your target before firing.
Is it hard to run? How long is the campaign?
It's very light: minimum i5-4460, 4 GB RAM, integrated graphics, 5 GB of space — even a 2016 laptop manages it. The campaign has 15 hand-built sectors plus procedurally generated targets, challenge modes, and leaderboards; community estimates put a first run around 12 hours.
Will my older PC run it?
Almost certainly. The minimum is an i5-4460, 4 GB RAM, and integrated graphics at 5 GB of space. See the System Requirements page.
